Amazon Kindle Wifi e-Reader
Today we’re looking at the new Amazon Kindle Wifi, one of the best selling items at Amazon. This new version of their reader is quite possibly on everyone’s Christmas list for this year and if you know someone who wants one then it’s probably best to get in early and get it bought before the rush starts.
Sitting below the $100 mark this new version is the non touch screen edition which has a small row of buttons at the bottom for turning pages instead, perfect for those not so techie people you have to buy for. Amazon have reduced the specification a little with this new one probably to bring it in at such a cracking price but we don’t think you’ll be affected that much by the changes. It’s 30% lighter than the previous version and smaller too but maintains the same fantastic 6″ screens which is one of the best for reading on.

Some of the key features of the new Amazon Kindle Wifi.
What’s in the box?
Well not much to be honest, we’ve detailed what you’ll find here.
As you can see it’s pretty sparse and Amazon have taken it upon themselves to drop the mains adapter plug this time around so you’ll need to buy one of those yourself. However empty the box looks when you open it though you have to bear in mind one thing and one thing only. You’ve gone and bought quite possibly the best e-Reader currently on the market for considerably less than anything else. That should bring a smile back to your face!
Is it any good then?
Having spent a good few days with the new Kindle it’s really started to grow on us. This really is a pure e-Reader, no keyboard in the way or touch screen to worry about it just does its job and does it well. It’s also incredibly lightweight as well so if you’re used to carrying around even the slightest of heavy novels this will come as a great relief and a huge bonus if you take it on vacation.
It’s a nippy little device with pages turning quickly before your eyes and the screen is just fantastic with great clarity. We think Amazon could have included the mains charger in the box but we had a couple hanging around from mobile phones and iPads so we just used one of those instead, you might want to consider buying one if your family tends to share the only plug!
The reduction in memory on the new Kindle did get us thinking a bit but when you realise that this e-Reader comes with the Amazon cloud service and all your bought books are held safe and secure on their servers you realise it’s just not a problem. There’s still plenty of room on the device itself for anything you buy elsewhere or already own.
Overall we give the Amazon Kindle Wifi e-Reader a very solid 5 / 5
